Assistant Professor Political Science

Jacksonville State University is accepting applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Political Science in the Department of Sociology and Political Science. This is a full-time tenure-track position with a primary teaching focus carrying a 4/4 teaching load. The successful candidate will have a background in Public Law and American government with a strong foundation in law and legal studies.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Political Science or closely related field from an accredited university by the proposed start date.
  • Candidates first field of study should be either Public Law or American Governmentwith the ability to teach law and legal studies at the undergraduate-level.
  • College level teaching experience.
  • Willingness to teach in traditional hybrid and online modalities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstration of effective teaching (e.g. peer reviews student evaluations evidence of student success).
  • Interest in mentoring undergraduate students including LSAT preparation.
  • Record of scholarly achievement (e.g. peer-reviewed publication conference presentation and/or published journalism).
