The mission of the Louisiana Veterans Home is to primarily serve the Veterans population of Louisiana through the provision of medical restorative and rehabilitative services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. The primary objective of the home is to provide quality nursing care to eligible veterans with the ultimate goal of returning them to the highest possible levels of physical and mental capacity.

Serve those who served.
Four years of experience as a teacher instructor or counselor in a recreational program; OR
A bachelors degree in a rehabilitation recreation or therapy field a physical education field or psychology; OR
Possession of certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist in accordance with the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification.

Job Duties:
Assist with the monthly Activities calendar. Create plan and follow through with new activities.
Get residents to and from activities
Decorating the entire facility for holidays and special events.
Take pictures of all events.

Compensation: As part of a Career Progression Group vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist 1 or Therapeutic Recreation Specialist 2 depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
