The labs mission is to study the relationship between tumor cells normal tissues and the immune system as a means of understanding the microenvironment to determine how each component contributes to metastasis and relapse after therapy. The Research Assistant (Term) will be a key contributor to the laboratory responsible for assisting in day-to-day operations and completing experiments independently. The position requires performing 2D and 3D cell culture staining imaging and data analysis among other techniques in the laboratory. The candidate is expected to advance experimental projects into publications.
NOTE: A Term position is a staff position that exists for a period longer than six months but is not expected to last beyond one year. Although a position may exist for a specified or indefinite period staff who accept term positions are not guaranteed employment for the entire period; they are employed for indefinite periods within the limit of the appointment. There are no guarantees of continued employment either within the term or when the term ends.

Molecular and cellular biological analyses
2D and 3D cell culture
RNA extraction
qRT-PCR
Immunofluorescence
Cellular metabolism
Animal work
Orthotopic tumor models
Perform checks on animal welfare
Assist with necropsy and dissection
Perform outcome measure assessments on tissue samples
Education and Certifications:
A bachelors degree in a relevant field (e.g. engineering biology biochemistry) is required.
Experience and Skills:
Strong communication and organizational skills are required.
Diligence along with the ability and desire to maintain high quality records and safety standards are required.
Experience in standard molecular biology techniques is strongly preferred.
