Description

The Church History Museum is pleased to welcome a full-time Photography Intern from September 22 2025 to December 30 2025. The Church History Museum provides engaging experiences for individuals to connect with the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and its peoples growing spiritual artistic and cultural legacies. The Photography intern supports this mission by working one-on-one with Preservation staff to enhance the photo documentation of the collection. Specifically the Photography Specialist will facilitate the photography of art historical clothing textiles and 3-D items in storage. The work will consist of moving items between the storage location and photography areas and adjusting the setup. Editing images taken by photographers for ingesting into the museum catalog is a secondary responsibility. Printing images for storage boxes is also part of the weekly work assignment.



Responsibilities

Responsibilities may vary by assignment depending on department and need. The Intern receives assignments from supervising staff. The Manager reviews the Interns work occasionally. The supervisor reviews each assignment as it is completed. The Intern is expected to meet rigid and challenging deadlines work in harmony with other people take direction on each assignment and give full attention to detail. Independence in working tact and diplomacy are required. Sound judgment of Church doctrine history organization policy and protocol are also expected.



Qualifications

Paid Interns are qualified while enrolled in an educational institution and for one year following graduation. They must sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.

The ideal candidate will be:
Comfortable working directly with museum collections especially historical clothing and 3-D artifacts
Able to use standard computer software for editing ingesting items into the catalog and printing images for storage boxes.
Capable of producing progress reports organizing an image archive and giving regular oral progress reports
Able to lift loaded archival boxes and artworks (up to 50 lbs.) and work in environments containing a modest amount of dust.
Able to work independently but also collaboratively with staff members.

Pursuing or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree
Majors in Photography Museum Studies History Art History Anthropology or Archaeology are preferred.
