Position Description

Domestic Security Specialists plan and implement physical security protective methods and procedures. Assesses and recommends various physical security measures. All candidates must be a U.S. citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

All contractor staff who support this contract in the Domestic Security Specialist position should be familiar with planning and implementing domestic security protective methods and procedures applying knowledge of physical security measures locks and locking systems personnel entry control systems and loss prevention.

Location:Washington DC
Work Type:Full-time/Hybrid (This position is telework eligible)
Salary Range:
$155700.00- $194802.52

annually (starting salary determined based on candidates knowledge skills experience and education)
Clearance:Ability to obtain a Secret clearance; Active Secret clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assesses and recommends physical security measures such as alarms locks and guards required to resolve difficult and complex security problems and to maintain safety of information and staff.
  • Assists with workspace arrangements and control measures for office areas to ensure appropriate physical security measures are in place.
  • Coordinates with the Department of State for ID card issuance and access issues.
  • Assists when applicable with processing HSPD-12 requests for USAID employees contractors and cleared individuals requiring temporary and permanent access to USAID buildings and computer systems.
  • Provides assistance with badge screening and access during times when badge readers are non-operational.
  • Follows through on the implementation of established security policies practices procedures and techniques which may have to be varied for a number of locations or situations which differ in the level of security complexity and local conditions or circumstances requiring adjustment or modification in established approaches.
  • In conjunction with USAID counterparts liaises with other organizations and security systems to ensure compatibility with existing systems.
  • Provides physical security education training and awareness.
  • Performs various physical access requests.
  • Assists with visitor and Distinguished Visitor requests and escorts.
  • Assesses physical access control systems and alarms systems and makes recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Collaborates with other federal and local law enforcement agencies in conjunction with USAID counterparts to stay up to date on local threats and incidents; provides timely updates to senior leaders.
  • Regularly communicates coordinates and liaises with the managing entity of the physical workspaces of USAID staff.
  • Ensures timely follow-up and responses to customers and stakeholders.
  • Responds to requests in the domestic security mailbox.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations concerning overall physical security plans.
  • Processes badge and Visit Authorization Requests/Letters (VARs/VALs).

Qualifications

Masters Degree and 10 years of relevant professional experience may be substituted for education requirements.
