Ascend Indiana (Ascend) is a nonprofit on a mission to address Indianas workforce misalignment. An initiative of Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP) Ascend collaborates with corporate education philanthropic and community partners and is well-positioned to play a leadership role in addressing Indianas workforce challenges.
The Director of Development leads the development and implementation of Ascends fundraising strategy and operations to advance the organizations vision mission and priorities alongside the senior leadership team. The Director will play a critical role in generating and executing a fundraising strategic plan developing and maintaining relationships with funders creating grant applications and reports supporting engagement with Ascends Board of Directors and other duties as required. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in development or fundraising excellent project management skills and a passion for driving social impact through operations.
Key Responsibilities - Strategic Planning: Lead the development and execution of a fundraising strategic plan that aligns to Ascends strategic vision and associated revenue model. Develop and manage Ascends annual budget and monitor spending of grant funds to ensure effective stewardship across activities and funding sources.
- Diversifying Funding Streams: Work with the President & CEO to identify and pursue new funding sources as the organization scales including philanthropy government agencies and corporations.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management: Develop and enable new relationships with national regional and local funders and maintain ongoing relationships with current major donors. Support senior leadership in managing Ascends current Board of Directors and associated committees.
- Grant Writing & Reporting:Develop refine and maintain grant applications required reports and other fundraising materials alongside CICPs Shared Services team.
- Marketing and Outreach: Work with the Inform team to create materials campaigns and other supplemental material that highlights the impact of Ascend to stakeholders and donors.
- Leadership: Guide and motivate others to align with and work towards shared goals. Foster an environment where team members are empowered encouraged and provided with the resources needed for growth and success.
Requirements Education - Bachelors degree in Business Finance Non-Profit Management or a related field
Experience - Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in development finance or communications role preferably within a non-profit organization
Skills - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal

Details - Manager: VP of Brand & Communications Ascend Indiana
- Office location: 16 Tech downtown Indianapolis with hybrid work (in office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays each week)
- Work week: 40 hours/week
- Travel: Statewide (5%)
