Position Summary: Responsible for providing secretarial and clerical-related office services for the main office. The Parish Secretary provides administrative support to the pastor helping to ensure smooth daily operations of the parish office. This role requires professionalism discretion attention to detail and a welcoming demeanor as the Parish Secretary is often the first point of contact for parishioners and visitors. Details below. Qualifications: - Must have highly developed computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel); A working knowledge of Parish Soft; type at least 50 words per minute with accuracy; ability to communicate effectively and clearly via telephone and email.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail problem-solving skills and verbal and written communication skills when necessary.
- Must have basic knowledge of how a parish operates and can grasp how the parish office functions.
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters.
- Must have strong relational skills; the ability to work in a team setting and also work independently.
- Must have the ability to keep all office areas clean and organized.
- Candidates must be able to pass a background check and have or be willing to complete the Archdiocese of Detroit Protecting Gods Children workshop.
Education Training and Experience: - Minimum Associates degree preferred minimum 2 years successful administrative support experience - preferably in a parish or church setting.
- A working knowledge and appreciation of Roman Catholic faith and practice.
- A working knowledge of Roman Catholic faith and practice regarding Sacraments as well as funeral procedures.
