Job Summary:
An Occupational Health Nurse focuses on the health safety and well-being of employees in various work settings. They provide medical care develop and implement health programs ensure regulatory compliance and promote a safe working environment to prevent and manage occupational health issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Health Assessments:
- Conduct pre-employment and periodic health evaluations to assess employees fitness for specific job roles.
- Perform routine health assessments and screenings including vision and hearing tests to identify any work-related health issues.
Injury and Illness Management:
- Provide immediate care for work-related injuries and illnesses including first aid and emergency treatment.
- Manage and document cases of workplace injuries coordinate follow-up care and ensure appropriate treatment and recovery plans.
Health and Safety Programs:
- Develop and implement health and safety programs such as ergonomics wellness initiatives and injury prevention strategies.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential health hazards and implement preventive measures to mitigate these risks.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations including OSHA standards or equivalent local regulations.
- Stay current with changes in health and safety laws and regulations and ensure that workplace practices meet these standards.
Employee Education and Training:
- Provide training on health and safety topics including proper ergonomics safe work practices and emergency response procedures.
- Educate employees about disease prevention stress management and overall wellness to promote a healthy work environment.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures for health-related crises and workplace emergencies.
- Conduct emergency drills and training sessions to ensure readiness for various scenarios.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and confidential health records including injury reports health assessments and treatment documentation.
- Prepare and present reports on health trends incidents and program effectiveness to management and regulatory bodies.
Workplace Wellness:
- Promote and implement wellness programs aimed at improving employee health and productivity.
- Coordinate health promotion activities such as vaccination clinics health fairs and fitness programs.
Case Management:
- Manage cases of long-term illness or injury including developing return-to-work plans and accommodations as needed.
- Coordinate with external healthcare providers insurance companies and other stakeholders to support employee health and recovery.
