Job Purpose
As an Application Specialist Intern at CTCT you will work as an integral member of one of our software development teams and our wider testing team developing our Grade Control and Automation product. This position is for working over the summer period November to February.
Your team is a forward-thinking group working collaboratively to transform the world through the application of cutting-edge technology.
You will be involved in the development cycles of software through component and systems development testing reporting of issues and highlighting areas of improvement. You will get many opportunities to apply your curiosity organization and problem solving skills to this role.
Key Accountabilities and Outcomes
Be actively involved in the development cycles of software
Complete software component and systems testing
Investigation and reporting of quality issues
Highlight areas of improvement
Understanding customer needs and workflows and providing feedback to the development team
Assisting with continuous improvement of testing processes.
Assisting with Auto Test creation.
Machine system testing on different plant types (excavators dozers compactors etc)
Basic plant vehicle and test site maintenance. This may include general custodial duties and performing routine maintenance activities (e.g. greasing machines checking fuel levels housekeeping of storage containers etc.)
Any other duties directed by Management as and when required
Skills / Competencies
Curiosity and drive for continuous learning.
Effective and proactive communication skills (verbal and written).
Strong problem-solving.
Having a flexible approach to working in a changing environment.
Ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
Analytical approach and attention to detail.
Knowledge in land surveying mechatronics engineering electrical engineering civil engineering or construction is an advantage.
Physical ability to carry and use survey equipment and other test instruments as well as work on and around construction equipment.

The CTCT division (a joint venture between Trimble and Caterpillar) creates world-leading grade control and automation products for customers in the paving construction landfill and mining industries. Our products make operators of heavy equipment more productive whether theyre working on a landscaping job in someones backyard levelling a section for a house building a subdivision or highway or operating an 800-tonne excavator on a mine site.
Central to our success is accurate positioning. We utilize the latest in technology from our in-house developed positioning technologies utilizing IMU GNSS Laser Optical and Sonic sensors and some tech we cant even talk about yet to empower machine operators with clear and accurate many cases we automate functions of the machine so the operator can concentrate on other tasks.
