Hematology Oncology / Bone Marrow Unit Registered Nurse (17-Week Contract)
Location: New York (NY RN license required)
Schedule: Rotating day/evening/night (D/E/N); Every Other Weekend (EOW); Holidays/On-Call/Callback/Charge as unit needs
Assignment Length: 17 weeks
About the Role
Join a highly functioning compassionate team in a fast-paced high-acuity adult Hematology-Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant environment. Youll deliver exceptional bedside care to complex oncology and BMT patients while collaborating closely with physicians APPs and interdisciplinary partners. Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult heme/onc and BMT patients in an acute inpatient setting
- Monitor and interpret telemetry; recognize and escalate changes in patient status
- Administer chemotherapy/biotherapy per protocol and maintain accurate documentation
- Manage central lines transfusions supportive therapies and symptom management
- Participate in charge on-call and callback coverage per unit needs
- Collaborate in care planning patient/family education and safe transitions of care
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) New York license (NY only)
- Minimum 2 years RN experience
- Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) experience
- Telemetry experience (required)
Required Certifications
- BLS American Heart Association ONLY
- ACLS
- Chemotherapy Certification
Preferred
- One (1) year acute care experience in medicine and oncology
- Demonstrated strength in teamwork communication and critical thinking
