RESEARCH OFFICE

Data Engineer()

The Research Office (RO) provides central administrative services and performs various roles spanning a broad range of areas including grants and funding schemes research ethics integrity and policy research committee research culture and infrastructure partnership and collaboration at the institutional level. We are now looking for a proactive and meticulous team player to manage IT projects to facilitate the operation of the RO.

Responsibilities:

  • Build enhance and manage different university research-related systems such as the Integrated Research Information and Management System (IRIMS);
  • Serve as a bridge of communication among stakeholders vendors and cross-functional working groups on different systems;
  • Coordinate and document the overall system workflow guidelines manual and training materials to ensure a good understanding of all information among the parties concerned to drive the successful implementation of the systems;
  • Hands-on research data management analyses and reporting; and
  • Carry out ad hoc tasks as assigned.

Requirements:

  • A bachelors degree in Data ScienceInformation Technology Information Systems Library and Information Science Computer Science or a related discipline is required with a preference for candidates holding a postgraduate degree;
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in information system management and/or data management;
  • Proven supervision and leadership track record and experience are preferred;
  • Experience in metadata handling and content management for an institutional repository system or a current research information system is preferred;
  • Strong Excel skills required;
  • Experience with Python programming language;
  • Data visualisation experience is essential (PowerBI preferred);
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  • Self-initiative with strong analytical problem-solving interpersonal and communication skills; and
  • Proven ability in project management and vendor management.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
