Job Description

City & Capital are currently representing a highly respected & fast-growing challenger bank who are renowned for their development finance proposition. They have retained our services to appoint a confident and knowledgeable Senior Portfolio Manager to their busy team at an exciting time of success.


The Company


Our client is a key player in the development finance space and has grown substantially over recent years buoyed by lending growth and increased investment. They support property developers and SME businesses with access to funds for new build developments and heavy refurbishment projects.


Loan sizes vary with the capacity to create bespoke loan solutions to meet the needs of the borrower. Our client can also offer competitive rates and strong GDV options for experienced developers as well as loans against commercial or residential assets driving a strong and repeatable customer base.


The Department & Team


The development finance division is the flagship department of the bank & the key focus of funding distribution & growth for the coming period. Due to this the team is set to swell in all aspects including the addition of experienced development finance professionals into key roles.


The team consists of a broad range of skillsets including (but not limited to) Relationship Directors Relationship Managers Credit Managers and Portfolio Managers. The team is collaborative in approach and all work together to achieve the best possible outcomes from new applications and portfolio success.


Role Overview


As Senior Portfolio Manager you will inherit and manage the growth of a portfolio of development loans and clients that have received funding from the bank. Your focus will be on the successful and timely completion of projects in line with the covenants agreed.


To achieve this you will attend site visits with the capacity to be able to identify and address either current or potential future issues. As a result you will be comfortable when dealing directly with developers and will have the technical capacity to support the needs of a loan at various stages.


You will also assist clients with new borrowing or refinancing needs and as a result will be expected to develop and present credit papers and reports to the credit team with a view to actioning borrower needs.


Responsibilities


  • Inherit and grow a portfolio of development loans and development borrowers
  • Manage loans to successful completion and redemption
  • Onboard new loans and borrowers to your portfolio
  • Assist borrowers with new borrowing or refinancing activity
  • Attend site visits to assess and influence the performance of development projects
  • Monitor loan repayments and undertake Activity to redress any NPLs
  • Liaise with the credit risk team wherever required on activity


The ideal candidate for this role must be an experienced development finance portfolio manager with the capacity to understand and influence the performance of development schemes and developers.


You will be happy to attend site visits and undertaking travel to sites wherever required. You will demonstrate a strong knowledge of the credit risk principles that underpin strong development lending and will be an excellent communicator and confident when managing

relationships with experienced developers within your portfolio.


Candidate Requirements


  • Experienced development finance portfolio manager
  • Confident running and influencing site visits and developer activity
  • Experiences in loan monitoring & influencing positive redemptions
  • Strong credit risk credentials that underpin positive development funding
  • First-class communication and negotiation skills
  • Meticulous team player with excellent attention to detail
  • Ambitious and keen to grow with the firm


On Offer


Our client is ideally looking to pay up to c85k/90k as a basic salary for the ideal individual relevant to experience and qualifications. Salary will be complemented by access to our clients favourable bonus & benefits structure too which will significantly increase year on year earnings.


Most notably due to our clients continued growth and plans to expand the development finance division further this is also a role that comes with plenty of further potential to progress.

You would expect to split time within this role between our clients London HQ home and travel to site and client meetings. Therefore please ensure this is something that is viable for you.
