Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: To fully address the child holistically Confluence schools are embracing the concepts towards becoming a trauma-informed organization. Establishing sensory rooms and incorporating innovative programs such as yoga and mindfulness is just a few examples of our new approach to addressing students social and emotional needs. We are looking for an innovative individual willing to be trained in the Missouri Model: Developmental Framework for Trauma Informed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.

  • Performs casework service with individual students to correct those personal social or emotional maladjustments related to their educational and social progress.
  • Coordinates or serves as a member of building care teams and educational planning and placement committees and provide biographic psychological and sociological assessment information related to planning for children with adjustment problems.
  • Consults and collaborates with other school personnel in gathering and providing information on a student and in establishing and planning for respective roles in the modification of the students behavior.
  • Performs casework service with parents as an integral part of the task of helping students to increase the parents understanding their constructive participation in resolving their childs problems and their knowledge and use of appropriate resources available.
  • Makes home visits for the purpose of gathering helpful information on a students background.
  • Assists students directly with adjustment to school.
  • Provides crisis intervention services.
  • Assists in providing in-service training programs.
  • Supports school in dealing with various agencies on behalf of students and/or families.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES: May assist in supervising interns as directed.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. Education/Experience: Masters degree from a graduate school of social work program (M.S.W.). A minimum of a 500 clock hour supervised social work practicum. Satisfactory completion of 1year as a school social worker with direction from a fully approved (school) social worker. (Or comparable internship)

Certification: None required.

Language Skills: Ability to read analyze and interpret business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students peers parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.
