Your Role
We are looking for a skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team in designing building and optimizing our AI-powered search capabilities. As part of the Brain team you will help create and improve software systems that surface critical leads and insights for forensic investigators ensuring fast relevant and accurate results. Youll collaborate closely with AI Research Product UX and Engineering teams to develop scalable and high-performance search solutions for complex digital forensics workflows. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging problems and contribute to building state-of-the-art systems within a growing platform.
What You Will Accomplish:
- Build scalable high-performance software solutions for complex systems in a cloud-native environment;
- Develop and optimize infrastructure to handle data processing ensuring reliability fault tolerance and efficiency;
- Contribute to system performance improvements by analyzing data identifying bottlenecks and implementing optimizations across multiple areas of the system;
- Take ownership of critical system components working to improve both functionality and user impact;
- Support the deployment monitoring and scaling of cloud-based infrastructure ensuring systems remain performant and meet customer needs;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create innovative solutions into our platform and improve our search results.

- In your first 90 days youll dive into our search systems familiarizing yourself with the underlying infrastructure and relevant user workflows. Youll collaborate closely with the team to enhance core system components drive improvements and make an immediate impact across multiple areas of the system. Youll also analyze system performance scalability and user needs identifying key areas for improvement. By the end of your first three months youll have taken ownership of a key initiative delivering enhancements that directly improve the platforms scalability performance or the quality of our search results.
What We Are Looking For:
- We are looking for a strong software engineer who is eager to contribute to a cloud-native platform and tackle real-world problems in a dynamic fast-paced environment. While you dont need to be an expert in every technology listed a solid engineering background and the ability to learn quickly will set you up for success.
Required Skills:
- Experience with cloud-native systems and building scalable software solutions;
- Familiarity with distributed systems event processing cloud infrastructure and optimizing system performance;
- Strong programming analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset;
- Naturally curious and willing to learn. Comfortable in navigating ambiguity and fast-changing environments;
- Ability to work cross-functionally communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders and collaborate in a team environment;
- Languages and technologies we use and teach include: C# Python and AWS (ECS OpenSearch DynamoDB etc.);
- 3 years of experience in software engineering working on production systems;
- Bachelors degree in a Computer Science related field or equivalent practical experience.
Nice To Have Skills:
- Familiarity with AI technologies or machine learning techniques (e.g. natural language search embedding-based retrieval);
- Understanding of modern search techniques like graph-based search or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).

Compensation & Benefits
- The Compensation Range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. Please note that the actual compensation may vary depending on location and job-related factors such as qualifications experience knowledge and skills. If you are applying for this role outside of the primary location and you are selected for an interview the Talent Acquisition Partner can share more information with the compensation structure for the role includes an incentive component (ie. most Sales roles) the range below represents total target compensation (TTC) (base salary variable)
Compensation Range:
- MIN: $111300 MID: $159000 MAX: $190800CAD
