Job Description

The Regional Director/Team Lead Regional Payer Account Management Secondment is responsible for developing and executing business strategies to effectively engage Pfizers U.S. regional payer customersthose identified as regional accounts based on their size impact and geographical reach. This role ensures an integrated enterprise-wide approach to driving business performance through profitable payer/access strategies and alignment with national objectives and therapeutic area goals.

Reporting to the Senior Director Payer Account Management the Regional Director leads two mirrored teams:

  • Enterprise Team manages over 20 products across Primary Care and Specialty Business Units
  • Oncology Team manages over 20 Oncology products

Together these regionally based Account Management teams receive strategic leadership coordination and oversight to ensure cohesive execution of product and business strategies across both therapeutic areas.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide strategic oversight to account team responsible for driving performance with regional payer account customers with focus on those deemed to be anchor regional accounts (due to their size and importance to Pfizers business).
  • Drive business plan development and execution in a rapidly changing healthcare environment including strategies to gain maintain and maximize quality / profitable access across multiple customer channels/segments.
  • Deliver on key performance metrics: quality access targets profitable contracts and customer collaborations.
  • Align and influence key stakeholders to develop Pfizers relationship and business strategy with regional payer account customers (health plans/PBMs)
  • Develop a high-performing and engaged account management team with a focus on colleague and team development.
  • Build and coach account management engagement capabilities and competencies to thrive in a complex marketplace of PBMs and intermediaries who negotiate Pharmacy benefit contracts and access on behalf of health plan customers.
  • Coach and develop account team capabilities to leverage regional customer insights practices and direct contracting opportunities in Medical Benefit product categories which have emerged with biosimilars and medical benefit brands.
  • Partner with Pfizer stakeholders to leverage expertise relationships and resources. Key stakeholders include but are not limited to: BU Sales and Key Account Management Payer Marketing Strategy and Contracting Medical Government Relations Public Affairs/PolicyPatient & Health Impact Legal
  • Strengthening partnership with Global Access & Value Payer matrix Teams and other internal business partners to maximize the payer value proposition of Pfizer products and pipeline assets by providingcustomer insights and information regarding the complex payer environment
  • Leverage synergies across national/key regional accounts and Sales (i.e. Key Account Management Sales Leadership etc.) Medical and Customer Marketing teams to share insights and to ensure a coordinated approach to engaging customers driving business performance and delivering customer value.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Sales/Account Management Leaders across the organization and ensure local market coordination with other PFE teams (e.g. Sales KAMs) to plan and execute strategies and tactics to help gain maintain and maximize access opportunities
  • Build and maintain relationships with key influencers and key payer customers to help drive profitable product performance
  • Maintain deep current and relevant knowledge and expertise of the US health care market and the payer/reimbursement space; payer business models and priorities; and identify trends that impact Pfizers business and drive strategies and tactics that will help ensure sustainable business success.
  • Drive business growth engage customers lead people and lead organizational change
  • Build and sustain strong working relationships with all business units based on opennessperformance and trust

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers develop and coach others oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • Bachelors degree minimum required
  • 12 years of experience required in the healthcare sector with specific experience in the pharmaceutical industrys payer/ managed markets customer base
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the US Market Access space
  • Demonstrated understanding of health care policy financing and delivery; in depth knowledge and experience in developing implementing and executing strategies that create market access for pharmaceutical products.
  • Track record of strong leadership inmanaging change and performance
  • Demonstrated business acumen
  • Ability to respond effectively to multiple priorities and tight timelines; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Deep understanding of business/general management of payer customers and customer needs. Significant experience with a broad and varied set of customer dynamics environments and complex payer strategies.
  • Demonstrated success in influence/negotiation skills; ability to build and maintain productive collaborative relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
  • Track record of success in developing strategies which drive business performance
  • Track record and demonstrated ability to effectively influence and interface internally at most senior levels in a large corporation and externally with large complex customers
  • Demonstrated strong strategic and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills; ability to mobilize key stakeholders and engage both colleagues and senior leadership
  • Track record of leading teams to meet or exceed performance targets
  • Ability to navigate internal organization/processes and mobilize key USMA internal stakeholders
  • Ability to provide clear direction coach and engage team members

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience in payer account management role(s)
  • Previous supervisory/people management experience preferred and ability to develop and motivate others lead through change and deliver on Pfizer business objectives necessary
  • Sophisticated contracting and large deal negotiations experience

  • Note: This secondment offers a valuable opportunity for professional growth. It will need to be funded by the secondees home team
  • Secondment 9-10 months
  • If you are currently in a driving position with a fleet vehicle and this secondment does not require driving as an essential function of the position for12 months or longer you will be required to turn in your fleet vehicle for the duration of the non-driving secondment. Please refer to the Fleet Policy and Procedures document for more information.
