Job Description

Job Title: Schematic / Harness Design Engineer
Location: Laval QC Canada Onsite

Position Overview:
Schematic / Harness Design Engineer to support electrical system development for heavy equipment. This role involves creating and maintaining wiring schematics and harness designs using industry-standard tools such as Creo. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with electrical design routing and integration in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical schematics and wire harnesses for Caterpillar machines.
  • Use Creo or other CAD tools to create and update harness drawings and 3D routing.
  • Collaborate with mechanical electrical and systems engineering teams to ensure proper integration of wiring systems.
  • Support prototype build testing and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Manage engineering change orders (ECOs) and maintain accurate documentation in PLM systems.
  • Ensure compliance with Caterpillar standards and industry regulations.
  • Provide support to manufacturing and service teams regarding harness installation and diagnostics.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Proven experience in wire harness design and electrical schematic development.
  • Proficiency in Creo or similar CAD tools for harness routing and design.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems connectors and routing best practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in heavy equipment or automotive industries.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (SAE ISO) for electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with PLM systems and engineering documentation practices.
