Objective / Purpose of the Function:
The Reliability Engineer will support the plan to execute reliability maintainability manufacturability and testability activities. Reliability activities include allocations modelling predictions warranty analysis FMECAs accelerated life tests HALT HASS and BIT demonstrations. Will actively participate in detailed design & product enhancement activities technical interchange meetings program/project reviews customer / supplier support and ensure product life-cycle integrity by applying advanced analytical tools methodologies and industry best practices. Help execute strategic plan to provide support and continuously improve knowledge skills and the learning environment in a mid-size high mix multinational engineering and manufacturing organization.
Principal Responsibilities:
Support the development reliability predictions and analysis using statistical methods (MTBF Weibull etc.) and software tools like ReliaSoft or BlockSim for mechanical and electrical designs and supplied components.
Provide support to analyze field data and warranty reports to identify trends failure modes and root causes and participate in the implementation of corrective actions to reduce failures.
Interact with engineers subcontractors suppliers customers program managers product managers operations global quality and others during the investigation documentation and resolution of system failures; the evaluation of new products and designs; and evaluation of existing products and designs.
Review specifications drawings engineering change notices (ECNs) support product development and configuration control work with business development and other organizations as needed to improve product robustness and reliability.
Support design reviews production readiness reviews New Product Development and New Product Introduction to provide technical expertise in materials selection thermal management and failure analysis.
Communicate results of data driven modeling projects both in terms of development status and ongoing operational findings and actions.
Guide the development and optimization of reliability models for predictive maintenance and life-cycle assessment.
Act as in-house translator by providing independent verification and thoughtful critique of 3rd party data analysis in house data analysis and other sources of reliability information.
Assist in the translation of concepts ideas new products new components into clearly defined quantitative models and process optimization objectives that capture both business and user requirements.
Provide support to root cause investigations for product failures and make recommendations for design improvements.
Provide support to build a repository for lessons learned / Knowledgebase of product failures and root causes transfer these for use in DFMEA/PFMEA
Participate/Lead DFMEA / PFMEA coordination and continuous maintenance
Comply with the Health Safety and Environment Policy following the procedures and work instructions applicable to his/her activities for the participation in the established Objectives and Goals
Competences / abilities:
BS/ MS in Electrical Engineering or Mathematics.
ASQ Certified Reliability Engineer certification a Plus.
Proven experience in reliability engineering 5 to 10 years minimum.
Understanding of reliability analysis techniques and tools (e.g. ReliaSoft Minitab or similar software).
Experience with accelerated life testing reliability testing and reliability prediction
Proficient in written and verbal communication skills.
Experience in Design of Experiments (DOE) FMEA DFMEA and root cause analysis methodologies.
Experience with electrical mechanical and electro-mechanical assembly dielectrics injection molding and PCBs.
Ability to interpret statistical data failure rate calculations and reliability metrics.
Experience in communicating and presenting data and technical concepts to audiences with varying backgrounds.
Degree in mathematics/statistics or engineering.
Demonstrated problem-solving quantitative analysis skills and proficiency in working with applications developers IT design engineering and other technical organizations.
FDA regulatory experience / ISO13485 experience a plus
SPC Experience (Control Charts Pareto Analysis Histograms FMEAs etc.)
Experience with HALT & HASS.
