Under the Health and Disability Commissioner Act 1994 (the Act) the Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) is required to promote and protect the rights of health and disability services consumers and facilitate the fair and efficient resolution of complaints relating to infringement of those rights.

The Editor will be a communications champion delivering high quality written work to support HDC to achieve its objectives. You will be responsible for overseeing and refining written content to ensure it is clear accurate and appropriate for its intended audience and purpose.
The person in this role will be a part of the strategy team and will assist the Commissioner to raise the profile and understanding of the Code of Health and Disability Services Consumers Rights.

A strong written communicator with excellent editing and proof-reading skills and an ability to work within prescribed turnaround times are essential attributes for this role. The ability to work autonomously with a high degree of initiative and self-confidence is also required.
In addition you must have:
Relevant qualifications in editing and proof reading
At least five years experience editing complex documents to a very high standard
Excellent written communication skills with a proven ability to write to a high standard (clear accurate concise appropriate to audience)
Strong attention to detail
Well-developed analytical skills
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Personal integrity sound judgement and an honest and ethical approach.
High level of competence in MS Office suite and information technology more generally
An understanding of New Zealands health disability mental health and addictions sector

As part of HDCs remuneration framework the full-time equivalent (FTE) base salary range for this position is $72153$90191 depending on the candidates experience. The final salary will be pro-rated for part-time hours. Please note that employer contributions to KiwiSaver are additional to the base salary.
