Range Explanation:
Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills qualifications experience education licenses training and internal equity.
Pay Range is the entire compensation range for the position.
Be a part of a team that keeps Pima County Parks clean and safe. The selected candidate will assume the Trades Construction role responsible for all outdoor installations design repairs and retrofitting jobs at all Parks and Recreation locations. The Trades Construction role will lead and guide staff working on concrete fencing earth work tree trimming & removal light welding driving CDL type vehicles and hauling heavy equipment. All skills mentioned are required to make repairs on any facility located within park property to include plan review design and overseeing major internal projects. The selected candidate must have a willingness to work in the elements and can expect to be outdoors at least 90% of the time while on duty.
Essential Functions:

Participates in the skilled operational and preventive maintenance of complex facilities equipment and or systems;
Performs routine and preventive maintenance of park grounds complex facilities irrigation systems and equipment;
Operates a variety of tools and specialized equipment which may require possession of a CDL depending on assignment;
Performs quality control analysis on equipment supported systems turf management ball field preparation and all other park assets contained in assigned property;
Assists with the setup and maintenance of park amenities such as fencing trails and recreational facilities;
Leads delegates supervises Parks Specialists I and II Parks Technicians I and II and volunteer staff with maintenance or project activities;
Maintains comprehensive activity operations service and usage records on supported vehicles equipment and systems;
Prepares oral and written reports related to daily operations and project status;
Supports contractor activities by reporting on-site observations to supervisors;
May assist in natural resource areas with tasks such as leading and training team members in skilled maintenance in environmentally sensitive locations historic restoration fencing equestrian complex camping facilities ponds trails adobe buildings habitat restoration erosion control and invasive species.
Minimum Qualifications:
Five years of direct journey-level work experience in parks and recreation landscape management facility operations or a related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment.
(Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)
OR:
Two years of experience with Pima County as a Parks Specialist I or II.

Preferred Qualifications: (Be specific in describing your experience in your application. Ensure the descriptions provided illustrate your competencies specifically addressing the required and preferred qualifications.):
Minimum two (2) years of journey-level experience in the construction areas of grading forming pouring and finishing concrete.
Minimum two (2) years of journey-level experience in the loading securing transport and field use of heavy equipment to excavate trench and grade.
Minimum two (2) years of journey-level experience in the install of commercial type fencing including chain link field wildlife and bollards.
Experience in large tree pruning and removal.
Experience with/knowledge of welding.
Minimum one (1) year supervisory experience.
Experience with/knowledge of OSHA ADOSH and AZDOT regulations and compliance.
Experience utilizing computer programs in Microsoft Office Suite work order documents and reports as needed.
Selection Procedure:
Pima County Human Resources Department reserves the right to admit to the selection process only those candidates that meet the minimum qualifications. All applications will be assessed based on an evaluation of the listed education and experience. Candidates meeting the minimum qualifications may be further evaluated/scored against any advertised Preferred Qualifications. The hiring authority will interview and select the successful candidates from a referral list provided by Human Resources. Additional assessments/testing may be required as part of the selection process.

Licenses and Certifications: Some positions require AZ Department of Agriculture-Office of Pesticide Management Certified Applicator license (Core and Category #3-Ornamental and Turf) at the time of appointment or must obtain prior to completion of initial/promotional probation period (6-months).
Some positions require a valid Arizona commercial driver license (CDL) with appropriate endorsement(s) at the time of appointment or prior to completion of an initial/promotional probation period. Valid driver license is required at time of application.ValidAZdriver license is required at time of appointment. The successful applicant will be subject to a 39-month DOT Motor Vehicle Record review to determine applicants suitability to operate county vehicles in accordance with Pima County administrative procedures. Failure to obtain and maintain the required licenses and certifications shall be grounds for termination.
Special Notice Items: The County requires pre-employment background checks. Successful candidates will receive a post-offer pre-employment background screening to include verification of work history education and criminal conviction history. A prior criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify a candidate from employment with the County. Positions requiring a CDL are also subject to applicable State of Arizona and federal standards rules and regulations on physical requirements including drug and alcohol testing.
