The School which offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes is named after local philanthropist Tan Sri Dato Lee Kong Chian. Established in 2010 by Nanyang Technological University Singapore in partnership with Imperial College London LKCMedicine aims to be a model for innovative medical education and a centre for transformative research. The Schools primary clinical partner is the National Healthcare Group a leader in public healthcare recognised for the quality of its medical expertise facilities and teaching. The School is transitioning to an NTU medical school ahead of the 2028 successful conclusion of the NTU-Imperial partnership to set up a Joint Medical August 2024 we welcomed our first intake of the NTU MBBS programme that has been recently enhanced to include themes like precision medicine and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare with an expanded scope in the medical humanities. Graduates from the five-year undergraduate medical degree programme will have a strong understanding of the scientific basis of medicine with an emphasis on technology data science and the humanities.
The LKCMedicine Sim Hoay Cheok Sim Foundation Library provides seamless access to information knowledge and library services to support the learning teaching and research needs of the NTU community. The Library teams role is to maintain smooth operations on campus and to drive transformation projects in its space and facilities to meet evolving user needs. We are seeking a service-oriented innovative and enthusiastic Senior Library Executive to support LKCMedicine Sim Hoay Cheok Sim Foundation Library team in sustainably running frontline library services and operations. The Senior Library Executive will be responsible for proposing and implementing initiatives to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness of library operations and work on service or space transformation projects to meet evolving user needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Library Operations and Front-Line Library Services
Provide efficient and high-quality Service Desk duties that align with NTU Librarys service excellence standards.
Deliver AOH (after office hours) services during designated evening and weekend opening hours.
Perform and supervise collection maintenance activities for optimal resources accessibility.
Manage and address user enquiries on library services effectively.
Operate the Alma Library Management System at efficiently and effectively at the administrative level.
Library Facilities Maintenance
Monitor and provide timely feedback on user spaces in the library.
Handle basic troubleshooting and maintenance of library equipment.
Organize and maintain the orderliness of library collections.
Inspect and monitor all library facilities and equipment to ensure they are in good working order.
Ensure that library security system and access system are working well.
Assist in Teaching and Learning Support
Liaise with faculty and librarians in a proactive manner to ensure needed resources are available.
Oversee operations to process track and re-shelve reserves in a timely manner
Library Services Improvement
Analyse current library processes and identify opportunities for improvement.
Participate in service or space transformation initiatives or projects.
Administrative Tasks
Assist in administrative tasks which includes (but not limited to) procurement.
Assist in the organizing and delivery of library events.
Assist in preparation of materials and signages used for library instruction and events.
Generate citation reports and Promotion and Tenure reports yearly.
Requirements:
A recognized diploma or degree in any discipline.
3 to 5 years of working in a library in a similar capacity with some supervisory experience. Previous experience in working in a healthcare organisation is an advantage.
Experience in Ex Libris Alma software system is an advantage.
Good computing skills: Microsoft Office Skills are essential
Good search skills: Experience with performing searches on databases
Experience in social media applications and/or mobile devices (i.e iPads tablets etc) is an advantage
Excellent interpersonal skills able to engage and communicate with a wide range of users.
Excellent time management skills and is systematic and methodical in work.
Independent worker and a pleasant disposition.
Reliable flexible and enthusiastic.
Curious mind and looks to creating improvements in work.
