Summary:
The Office of Research at American University is seeking a detail-oriented and tech-savvy graduate student to assist in the creation of a centralized Funding Announcement Database. This database will serve as a critical tool to help AU faculty and staff access timely funding opportunities across disciplines and sponsors.
The Graduate Funding Announcement Database Assistant will play a key role in developing and maintaining an organized searchable system that captures and categorizes grant and funding announcements from a variety of sources.
Responsibilities:
Research and compile funding opportunities from federal agencies private foundations and institutional sources.
Extract standardize and input data into a structured database (e.g. MS Access).
Tag opportunities by discipline eligibility due dates and type of funding (e.g. seed funding fellowships research grants).
Ensure the database is easily searchable and user-friendly for AU stakeholders.
Maintain up-to-date entries and assist with periodic quality checks.
Collaborate with the Office of Research to identify priority areas and refine database structure as needed.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Part-Time.
Current AU Graduate Student.
Salary Range:
$18.00 - $19.00 per hour depending on experience.
Required Education and Experience:
Current AU graduate student.
Experience with creating and maintaining databases is a must.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Comfort working with spreadsheets or databases.
Excellent research and data entry skills.
Ability to follow structured workflows and maintain consistent data formatting.
Interest in research administration grants or higher education preferred.
