About the Team
OpenAIs mission is to ensure that general-purpose artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity. The ChatGPT team works across research engineering product and design to bring OpenAIs technology to the world. We serve a diverse audience of users who are already using ChatGPT daily in their lives and work.
We seek to learn from deployment and distribute the benefits of AI while ensuring that this powerful tool is used responsibly and safely. Safety is more important to us than unfettered growth.
Design plays a critical role here. To succeed in our mission its crucial that we make our technology intuitive and accessible. Were hiring a product designer to create products that are easy to use beautiful and push the boundaries of whats possible. As an early team member youll have a huge part in shaping our product direction and design culture.
About the Role
Were looking for a Growth Product Designer to help shape how millions of people discover and get value from ChatGPT. Youll design experiences that drive adoption engagement retention and upgradesbalancing user needs with business goals. This role sits at the intersection of product design experimentation and storytelling.
This role is based in our San Francisco HQ. We offer relocation assistance to new employees.
What youll do in this role
Design end-to-end experiences that help people understand trust and return to ChatGPT.
Collaborate with product engineering and content design to run experiments and ship high-impact improvements.
Translate complex AI capabilities into clear intuitive interfaces that lower barriers to entry.
Use data and research to guide decisions while knowing when to trust your instincts.
Contribute to the evolution of OpenAIs design systems and voice.
Help establish our design culture and grow our team
You might thrive in this role if you
Have a strong portfolio showing thoughtful product design with experience in growth onboarding or consumer-facing products.
Are comfortable working in fast cyclessketching prototyping and testing ideas quickly.
Are able to balance qualitative insights with quantitative data.
Have excellent communication skills with a collaborative mindset.
Have a genuine curiously about AI and how it can shape new user behaviors.
