The City of Los Banos is recruiting to fill two full time Shift Battalion Chief positions and establish an eligibility list for future vacancies that may occur within 12 months of the list establishment. The Fire Battalion Chief will act as the Shift Commander to ensure operational readiness for emergency response and perform emergency command and control functions; to plan organize and direct technical management and administrative work; and provide a highly complex staff assistance to the Fire Chief.
Selection Procedure: There will be a capped limit on qualifying applicants for this recruitment so applications will be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure that only qualified applicants are taking up vacant slots. Exam Process:A limited number of candidates whose applications have been selected as the most qualified per the Fire Chief will be invited to participate in the following tentative scheduled for the last week of September and beyond.
Those candidates who successfully pass the assessment process will be placed on an employment eligibility list. The Fire Chief will have the rule of the list in selecting employees for additional interviews and for final selection for promotion.

**JOB DESCRIPTION**
DEFINITION
To assist the Fire Chief in managing and directing the Fire Department; to plan organize and direct technical management and administrative work involved in commanding and coordinating fire emergency activities fire prevention and education apparatus maintenance fire inspection and investigation activities; and to provide highly complex staff assistance to the Fire Chief.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general direction from the Fire Chief. Exercises direct supervision over assigned sworn and non-sworn personnel.
