General Information:
The Office of Alumni Relations is seeking an outstanding student to assist with the event planning and execution needs of the office. The student assistant should have a desire to learn about major alumni events have great attention to detail effective time management skills and an interest in interacting with JMU alumni and donors.
The Alumni Events and Office Assistant must be available to work 9 hours per week (to be determined based on availability) between the hours of 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday within the Leeolou Alumni Center. As an integral member of the Office of Alumni Relations Student Assistant Team the student will be required to work special events such as Homecoming Spring Reunions Alumni Awards and other ad hoc events as requested
Duties and Responsibilities:
Support the Alumni Office and Constituent Engagement by answering phones emails and assisting with walk-ins
Provide excellent customer service to constituents
Provide building support including locking/unlocking the space helping to set up the Great Room for events and keeping the space clean and tidy for visitors
Assist with creating and printing nametags
Assist with office mailings
Assist with event preparation and support for major events
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must qualify for Federal Work Study
Current JMU student
Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Interest in learning about Alumni Relations and the work of Constituent Engagement
Effective time management task organization and prioritization skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
Able to carry 50 pounds
License to operate a motor vehicle
Excellent customer service
Event support and problem-solving capable of assisting with event logistics and resolving minor issues independently

Students must be degree-seeking students enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
