As a leading resourcing partner in the Asia region Novus Precision Partners are proud to be working with a prestigious motorsports company looking to expand their team in Japan.
The Accounting and Finance Manager will be a pivotal member of our team in Japan responsible for establishing and overseeing all financial functions of the Japan companys operations in close cooperation with the Hong Kong accounting and finance team. This role requires a hands-on approach to daily accounting disciplined budgetary control and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in helping to ensure financial stability support business growth and maintain compliance with all relevant regulations in Japan.
Based in Osaka this role can also be performed remotely.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations:
- Manage all aspects of the general ledger accounts payable accounts receivable and payroll functions
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions in compliance with Japanese accounting standards (J-GAAP) or IFRS as applicable
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes
- Manage cash flow banking relationships and treasury functions
Financial Reporting & Compliance:
- Prepare comprehensive monthly quarterly and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet Income Statement Cash Flow Statement)
- Ensure compliance with all Japanese tax laws corporate regulations and statutory reporting requirements
- Liaise with external auditors tax advisors and legal counsel
Budgetary Control & Cost Management:
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts identifying and analyzing variances
- Implement and enforce strong internal controls and segregation of duties to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity
- Drive cost optimization initiatives across all departments
- Team Leadership & Development
- Potentially build and lead a small finance team as the company grows.
- Provide financial guidance and support to other departments and management.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field. A CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or equivalent professional accounting qualification is highly preferred.
Experience:
- 4 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles
- Proven experience in establishing and managing financial operations ideally within a new or rapidly growing company
- Strong understanding of Japanese accounting principles (J-GAAP) and tax regulations
Skills:
- Proficiency in financial accounting software (past working experience with Xero would be advantageous)
- Advanced Excel skills for financial modeling analysis and reporting
- Excellent analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders
- Fluency in Japanese and English (both written and spoken)
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in the automotive or motorsports industry
- Experience with international financial reporting standards (IFRS)
- Knowledge of Japanese corporate governance practices
