Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Department of Care Coordination and the Director of Substance Use Consultative Service (SUDs Service) the Peer Recovery Coach (PRC) provides direct supportive services to patients with a substance use disorder. The PRC shares the lived experience of recovery from substance use disorder and serves as a role model mentor advocate and motivator to help prevent relapse and promote long-term recovery.

The PRC works as a member of the interdisciplinary SUDs service team engaging patients in recovery planning identifying treatment services and facilitating linkages to care. They also perform community follow-up to provide continued patient engagement support and encouragement.

COMPETENCIES

  • Education

    • High school diploma or GED required

    • Prior peer recovery-focused education and training preferred

  • Knowledge

    • Shares the lived experience of recovery from substance use

    • Knowledge of the recovery process and ability to engage patients in individualized recovery plans

    • Ability to establish supportive trusting relationships and provide hope through advocacy

  • Skills

    • Strong interpersonal communication skills to interact with staff patients families and community members

    • Proficiency in the Screening Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) model

    • Ability to work as part of a team and serve as a liaison in providing support services

    • Skilled in developing transitional care plans and facilitating access to recovery programs

    • Strong time management and task prioritization abilities

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative in problem-solving

    • Recognizes when to escalate situations to a supervisor in a timely manner

    • Serves as a role model to patients by demonstrating recovery-oriented behaviors

  • Licensure/Certification

    • Certification registration or licensure not required but preferred

    • Valid drivers license (or reliable transportation) typically required for community follow-up

  • Work Experience

    • Minimum of one year of experience working with adults with substance use disorders

Salary Range: Minimum 22.00/hour - Maximum 36.32/ will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.

In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
