The purpose of the Health and Disability Commissioner (HDC) is to promote and protect health and disability services consumers rights and to facilitate the fair and efficient resolution of complaints relating to infringement of those rights.

As New Zealands health watchdog the Commissioner is involved in a wide spectrum of health concerns to ensure accountability in the healthcare system and promote high standards of care.

Do you have a passion for contributing to quality improvement of the health and disability services provided to older people in Aotearoa New Zealand The Aged Care Commissioner is seeking experienced registered nurses to provide advice on clinical issues which arise in the assessment and management of complaints and investigations involving older people.

This would be an ideal position/s for someone seeking to utilise their expertise as an advisor whilst maintaining clinical practice in a relevant setting.



Skills And Experiences

  • A current annual practising certificate.
  • Proven ability to accurately identify clinical issues and gaps in clinical information.
  • Expertise in answering complex clinical questions and providing advice on clinical issues.
  • Experience as a registered nurse in aged care facility care preferably with relevant clinical leadership experience.
  • Clinical Governance experience.
  • A desire to remain up to date through continuous learning.
  • A well-developed understanding of the health and disability sector in New Zealand.
  • Highly developed communication and analytical skills.
  • Understanding of equity issues in the delivery of healthcare.
  • A well-developed understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi.
  • Sound understanding of the New Zealand health and disability sector and consumer rights issues.
  • Ability to make good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis wisdom experience and judgement taking a restorative practice approach.

Awhe utu - Salary range

As part of our remuneration framework the annual base salary range for 1 FTE for the position is from $96566 to $120708. Note: KiwiSaver / employer contribution is in additional to your base salary.
