Position title: Senior Career Navigator

Status: Full-Time

Position Summary

The Senior Career Navigator plays a critical role on the Career Services team guiding program participants and graduates toward family-sustaining careers. This multifaceted role encompasses designing and implementing employment readiness curriculum training staff on effective delivery methods managing a dedicated caseload and providing individualized coaching and assessment services. The Navigator manages participants throughout their entire career development journey from initial skills building through job placement and beyond including ongoing graduate retention and advancement support. Working closely with staff members the Navigator identifies and facilitates participant placement in on-the-job training opportunities both within the organization and with external employer partners. The role emphasizes building meaningful relationships with participants and graduates to ensure sustainable career outcomes and strengthen the overall program ecosystem.

Primary Responsibilities:

I. Support participants in building their professional development skills

  1. Design and implement a comprehensive employment readiness curriculum while ensuring consistent delivery and fidelity across all program streams.
  2. Train and mentor staff members on effective curriculum delivery teaching methodologies and best practices for participant engagement.
  3. Guide participants through job application preparation including resume writing cover letter development and other essential job search materials.
  4. Provide individualized strength-based coaching to enhance participants professional skills in areas such as workplace communication interview techniques networking and strategic career planning.
  5. Facilitate interactive professional development workshops covering essential workplace competencies and career advancement strategies.
  6. Foster sustained program engagement by building meaningful relationships with participants and providing ongoing motivation and support throughout their career development journey.

II. Coordinate participants progress toward job placement

  1. Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide targeted coaching to evaluate participants strengths identify development areas and support their ongoing professional growth.
  2. Partner with the Job Readiness Manager to evaluate participant readiness for employment transition and coordinate seamless handoffs between program phases.
  3. Facilitate strategic job matching and placement support by connecting participants with suitable employment opportunities and providing guidance through all stages of the application interview and hiring process.
  4. Maintain comprehensive documentation in Salesforce including participant engagement metrics application and interview progress tracking job placement outcomes and other critical placement and retention milestone data to ensure program accountability and continuous improvement.

III. Support high-quality graduate employment outcomes

  1. Provide ongoing retention and career advancement support to program graduates through continued coaching professional development resources and strategic career planning assistance.
  2. Deliver targeted job search assistance to unemployed graduates including updated resume review interview preparation and connections to new employment opportunities.
  3. Track and analyze graduate employment data including wages work hours job retention rates and career advancement metrics to measure program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement.
  4. Expand placement support beyond target industries by providing specialized guidance and resources to participants seeking employment in alternative career paths and sectors.
  5. Design and facilitate regular job search workshops for both current participants and graduates ensuring high-quality content delivery and practical skill-building opportunities.
  6. Strengthen employer-graduate partnerships by facilitating ongoing communication channels helping graduates understand and meet employer expectations and leveraging graduate feedback to support employer engagement and job quality initiatives.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Participate in staff and training team meetings.
  • Assist training staff with random drug screens as needed.

Qualifications

Desired Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of combined experience in workforce development and adult education/training programs with demonstrated success in participant outcomes and program delivery.
  • Curriculum development and training expertise including experience designing implementing and evaluating educational content for adult learners in professional development settings.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems and data tracking platforms (Salesforce preferred) for managing participant information tracking progress and generating program reports.
  • Coaching and mentorship experience with proven ability to motivate and guide job seekers toward achieving their career goals through individualized support and encouragement.
  • Advanced communication and facilitation skills including experience with motivational interviewing techniques and other evidence-based approaches to support participant engagement and skill development.
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities to effectively navigate challenging situations and maintain positive participant relationships.
  • Strong technology proficiency including excellent computer skills comprehensive note-taking abilities and comfort with digital platforms for program delivery and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry-specific experience in roofing solar or related construction/green energy sectors.
  • Technology integration expertise for industry mapping labor market analysis and innovative job placement strategies.

  • Effective facilitation and classroom management skills with demonstrated ability to engage adult learners and maintain productive learning environments.
  • Technical proficiency in Google Workspace (Drive Calendar) Microsoft Office Suite (Word PowerPoint) and other digital platforms essential for program delivery.
  • Problem-solving and adaptability with resilience to navigate challenges develop innovative solutions and implement effective strategies under pressure.
  • Professional integrity and confidentiality with strict adherence to privacy guidelines and ethical standards in handling sensitive participant information.
  • Commitment to excellence in workforce development with dedication to creating respectful high-quality learning environments that promote participant success.

Work Environment:

  • The work schedule is typically Monday through Fridayfrom 7:30am - 3:30pm.
  • This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule. Candidates must be able to commute to the Baltimore City office at least four days per week with the option to work remotely up to one day per the 90-day orientation period additional in-office days will be required. This arrangement is subject to change based on organizational needs and may be adjusted to include additional in-person time.
