Works under the guidance of the Lead Technician provide effective maintenance and support for end-user technology such as desktops laptops and technology dispersed throughout University Libraries. Perform work of moderate difficulty troubleshooting running diagnostics repairing computers and peripheral equipment and resolving technical issues. Shares on-call support duties with other staff during scheduled work hours by receiving and resolving requests for help. Performs routine maintenance on installed computer equipment following established procedures and policies ensuring that computers remain in optimal working condition.
Required Qualifications
- Related associates degree or equivalent experience related to desktop computer operations and administration.
- Experience with computer imaging setup installation troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Experience installing computer peripherals such as printers plotters flatbed or handheld scanners.
- Experience in providing excellent customer service.
- Experience prioritizing and organizing multiple work tasks in a fast paced work environment.
- Experience in providing technical support for computers and mobile devices.
-Experience in Windows and MacOS operating systems
Preferred Qualifications
-Working knowledge of device and patch management tools such as IBM BigFix JAMF SCCM or Intune through formal education certification or by applicable experience.
- Working knowledge of the fundamentals of computer networking and computer security through formal education certification or by applicable experience.
- Working knowledge of audio visual A/V system support gained through formal education certification or by applicable experience.
-- Working knowledge with a ticket management system like ServiceNow TeamDynamix or Spiceworks.

$21.25-$22.00 dependent on experience and qualifications

-Must have a criminal background check.
-Requires valid drivers license in good standing
-Average of 30 hours/week to be worked Monday-Friday-8:00am-5:00pm/May be required to support scheduled A/V events outside normal work hours.
-Must be able to work holidays and school breaks.
-Must be able to lift and move computer equipment weighing 25 pounds or more as needed for delivery and installing.
-Must be willing to travel as needed to the University Libraries branches for support these include branch libraries in Blacksburg the National Capital Region and the Health Science and Technology Innovation District in Roanoke. Travel to these areas will be on a limited basis.
