Job Description

In this role youll dive into complex technical studies to identify the most economically optimal mix of new generation resources and supply options ensuring that our system can meet future needs while adapting to evolving policies technologies and market dynamics. Your work will directly inform MISO members stakeholders and state and federal regulators as they evaluate the reliability and economic impact of emerging energy policies. Along the way youll use cutting-edge modeling tools such as PLEXOS PROMOD and PSS/E to bring data-driven insights to life.

What Youll Do:

  • Shape the future of the grid by building multiple forward-looking planning scenarios across a 20-year horizonaccounting for economic shifts policy changes technology advancements and more.
  • Support resource planning efforts by running capacity expansion simulations using tools like PLEXOS and other advanced modeling software.
  • Translate complex analyses into clear insightsusing graphs charts and compelling narratives that highlight the so what behind the data.
  • Enhance and support MISOs economic modeling framework for the bulk power system using industry-leading simulation tools.
  • Collect validate and process critical input data from internal and external sources to ensure accurate actionable analysis and reporting.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Electrical Engineering Technology Electrical and Computer Engineering Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology.
  • At least three years of relevant experience

While not required it would be great if you had any of the following:

  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Technology Policy or Systems Planning.
  • Prior industry experience in any of the following: resource planning economic modeling of power systems (such as PLEXOS. EGEAS or PROMOD) power systems engineering engineering economics economics energy policy or project management.
  • Prior industry experiences working for an Independent System Operator (ISO) Regional Transmission Operator (RTO) federal or state regulatory commission Electric Reliability Organization (ERO) Regional Reliability Organization (RRO) or utility.

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
