Work Location and Hybrid/On-site Expectation: 3125 Crosby Avenue Klamath Falls OR field office. This position works primarily onsite frequently in the field; with some hybrid/remote work options. Some in-state travel is required with infrequent overnight travel.

The Klamath Falls OWRD office serves as the hub of water management for the Klamath Basin and Lake County bringing together a dedicated field team and agency specialists in hydrology hydrogeology and water management. Our office fosters a friendly and open culture where collaboration is key. We often engage in casual lively open-office discussions to navigate the complexities of water management drawing on the diverse expertise of our team to develop thoughtful and effective solutions.
Working within the Field Services Division provides the opportunity to:
The purpose of this position is to collect and process the hydrologic data necessary for managing Oregons water resources including stream flow precipitation and other climatic information. It also includes quality assurance checking and transmitting data to and from the headquarter office for all stations located within their region of responsibility.
This position works closely with the Hydrographics Section in Salem and serves as lead staff in Eastern Oregon for equipment procurement install and troubleshooting also providing training on the use of equipment including acoustic Doppler and temperature monitoring systems. This position works with other technical and professional staff in all aspects of the duties. This position may also assist the division in carrying out high priority projects such as flow improvement strategies. This position also provides technical assistance to Watermasters and other field staff within their region regarding hydrographic efforts and other routine and necessary tasks.
A day in the life will look like:
Two years of experience related to natural resource management and a Bachelors degree inHydrology Geology Civil Engineering or other natural resource area or three additional years of pertinent experience;
OR
One year of experience in Hydrology Geology Civil Engineering or other natural resource area and a Masters degree in Hydrology Geology Civil Engineering or other natural resource area.
Pertinent experience must include activities such as:
Gathering and analyzing natural resource data and/or coordinating monitoring efforts for a natural resource program; and
Providing technical assistance to the public in a natural resource program explaining laws rules and regulations answering questions help the public navigate and comply with agency that primarily include navigating agricultural GIS and field research activities may also be considered as relevant experience.

Involves travel with occasional overnight stays; must have valid drivers license and a good driving record; requires occasional lifting and carrying of up to 75 lbs; involves walking over rough terrain through fields along stream banks etc; must tolerate wading in swift cold streams and work from cable cars suspended over rivers. Required to make stream flood flow measurements. Is often alone in remote areas. Work at times may include inclement weather with hazardous driving conditions. Investigations can be met with hostility and personal threats.

PERS Salary Information
* NON-PERS ELIGIBLE (Includes most new hires to state government. Employees typically gain PERS eligibility after six months of state service.
