Position Title: Coordinator of Academic and Emotional Support: Student Support
Reports to: Assistant Superintendent
Location: Central Services
FLSA Status: Exempt
Months of Employment: 12 Months
Salary: Administrator Level V Range of $5327-$8043/month (Negotiable) Plus Full Benefits

SUMMARY
The Coordinator of Academic and Emotional Support will set the vision and direction of student-facing services related to health and wellness in schools including how to meet the social and emotional needs of students. Work involves overseeing the work of Student Instructional Support Personnel in the district and serving as a member of the Curriculum Team to address the academic social and emotional needs of all students. Work involves setting policies and goals and implementing services under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as subject matter expert on social emotional and behavioral student concerns and works with other district and school leaders to provide programming to meet individual and school-wide needs.
Supervises programs projects and strategies related to student-facing Social and Emotional Learning including managing related external partners and collaborating with internal teams in program/project management and development.
Supports implementation of data-informed SEL programming across Stokes County Schools and
provides necessary tools training and a regular cycle of observation and feedback needed for effective programming.
Provides leadership and support for Student Instructional Support Personnel (SISPs) including school nurses school counselors and school social workers.
Stays abreast of laws policies and procedures for SISPs and recommends updates to district policies and procedures as needed.
Collaborates with the Curriculum Team to develop well-rounded programming that addresses the academic social emotional and behavioral needs of all students.
In collaboration with the Stokes County Schools leadership plans designs and leads mental health and safety training for district staff.
Provides coaching support to school-level leadership and other staff to improve student learning conditions and school climate and culture.
Manages and evaluates external partnerships related to students social emotional and behavioral needs and develops additional opportunities for new organizational relationships.
Seeks out and manages grant opportunities to support the social and emotional needs of students and a favorable climate and culture in the district and schools.
Assists with the coordination of services for students eligible under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.
Serves as a liaison between Stokes County Schools and Stokes County Department of Social Services and other social service agencies to meet the needs of students and families.
Resolves and routes issues existing between agencies serving schools and the schools (school health and nursing law enforcement NC Division of Social Services mental health services etc.).
Works with high school counselors and the Director of Secondary Curriculum to coordinate local scholarship programs.
Coordinates the School Health Advisory Committee (SHAC).
Assists Special Programs with providing guidance and oversight on the development and implementation of 504 plans.
Other duties as assigned.

Facilitates specific projects as determined by Stokes County Schools Leadership.
Collaborates with peers teachers non-instructional staff and administrators.
Complies with all network and school-level routines board policies and federal and state laws.
Demonstrates and models professional demeanor resourcefulness and effective communication strategies with diverse groups.
Works independently without day-to-day supervision maintaining regular and punctual attendance in the workplace.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university required with concentration in a related field of study. Applicants should have a minimum of five (5) years professional experience in an SEL-related field. Masters Degree in Education Counseling or Educational Administration preferred with specific experience in developing and leading student support services programs. Experience coordinating student support programs in developing related processes and systems and in providing related training to professional staff. Experience in establishing and managing external organizational partnerships and relationships.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read analyze and apply common sense to understand and to carry out instructions in written or oral form. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel students and parents required.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully an individual should be competent in Microsoft and Google Suite applications and have the ability to learn and use computer software as necessary. Ability to use basic office equipment.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Criminal records check pre-hire and annually thereafter if applicable. Must be eligible to work in the United States and provide work authorization.
