Job Title: Construction Manager - Data Center Operations
What this job involves: As a Construction Manager at JLL you will oversee construction and renovation projects within active data center environments ensuring seamless integration of new infrastructure while maintaining uninterrupted operations of mission-critical systems. Youll manage complex projects including data hall expansions mechanical and electrical system upgrades and facility improvements that require precise coordination with operational teams. This role demands expertise in construction management within live data center environments where even minor disruptions can have significant business impact.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
Plan and manage construction projects including data hall build-outs infrastructure upgrades and facility expansions within operational data centers
Coordinate with multiple trades including electrical HVAC plumbing and low-voltage contractors to ensure seamless project execution
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules budgets and resource allocation plans while minimizing operational disruption
Conduct regular safety meetings and enforce strict safety protocols required for construction work in active data center environments
Collaborate with data center operations teams to schedule work during maintenance windows and planned outages
Manage contractor relationships review submittals and ensure all work meets data center industry standards and specifications
Monitor project progress quality control and budget compliance while providing regular status updates to stakeholders
Coordinate with commissioning agents and facility engineers during system startup and testing phases
Ensure all construction activities comply with building codes safety regulations and client operational requirements
Desired experience and technical skills:
Requirements:
Bachelors degree in Construction Management Engineering or related field
Minimum 7 years of construction management experience with commercial or industrial projects
Experience managing projects in active mission-critical facilities (data centers hospitals or manufacturing)
Strong knowledge of electrical mechanical and fire protection systems in data center environments
Proficiency with project management software (Primavera MS Project) and construction scheduling
Excellent communication and leadership skills to manage diverse project teams
Understanding of data center infrastructure including power cooling and network systems
Physical ability to navigate construction sites and mechanical spaces regularly
Availability for extended hours during critical project phases and maintenance windows
Preferred:
Data center construction or critical facility experience
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Experience with Uptime Institute Tier standards and data center design principles
Knowledge of commissioning processes for mission-critical systems
OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
Masters degree in Construction Management or Engineering
Experience with modular construction and prefabricated data center components
