Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Staff Platform Engineer to lead our organizations cloud computing strategy. As a pivotal member of our technology leadership you will be responsible for the high-level design architecture and successful implementation of our cloud infrastructure and services across a multi-cloud landscape. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud technologies and the ability to drive innovation while ensuring the highest levels of security performance and availability for our mission-critical trading systems.
As our Staff Platform Engineer you will act as a key consultant and subject matter expert for the entire organization providing strategic guidance and hands-on leadership to ensure our cloud adoption initiatives are successful secure and aligned with our business objectives. What you will do
- Develop articulate and oversee the companys comprehensive cloud strategy encompassing public (AWS GCP) and private cloud environments to support a fast-paced 24/7 trading operation
- Design robust scalable and secure cloud environments that meet the stringent low-latency high-availability and compliance requirements of the financial markets
- Provide oversight and architectural governance for all cloud deployments
- Provide expert leadership and mentorship on cloud-related projects guiding engineering teams (DevOps SRE and Development) on best practices for building and running applications in the cloud
- Act as the primary technical consultant to the organization on all cloud matters
- Collaborate with business leaders engineering teams and security and compliance departments to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Serve as a key stakeholder in the evaluation validation and selection of new cloud services third-party SaaS solutions and related technologies to ensure they align with architectural standards and business needs
- Establish and enforce cloud governance frameworks policies and standards
- Implement strategies for cloud cost optimization and resource management across all providers
- Work closely with the security team to integrate and enforce security best practices within the cloud architecture ensuring compliance with financial industry regulations (e.g. FINRA FCA MiFID II)
- Drive successful cloud adoption across the organization by championing the benefits of cloud technologies leading proof-of-concept initiatives and creating roadmaps for migrating legacy workloads
What you will need to succeed
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering Information Technology or equivalent professional experience is required
- 8 years of hands-on experience in senior roles such as DevOps Engineer Site Reliability Engineer or Cloud Engineer with a proven track record of designing and managing complex large-scale environments is required
- Expert-level knowledge and demonstrable experience with at least two of our primary public cloud providers: AWS GCP or Alibaba Cloud is required
- One or more relevant professional-level industry certifications such asAWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional orGoogle Cloud Professional Cloud Architect is required
- Proven experience designing and managing multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments
- Deep expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform CloudFormation or Ansible
- Strong understanding of modern containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g. Kubernetes K3s Docker)
- Expertise in cloud networking concepts (VPCs subnets routing direct connections load balancing) and security (IAM security groups encryption)
- Experience with designing for high availability disaster recovery and business continuity in a cloud context
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in financial services (e.g. trading fintech digital assets) is a plus particularly with exposure to complex technical and regulatory environments
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills with an ability to create a long-term vision and execute it
