About the role:

Waltham Forest is recognised as a leading borough for sustainable transport in London and the UK. Over the past 10 years the Highways and Traffic Management Department have delivered the highly successful and award winningEnjoy Waltham Forest Programme aimed at radically changing our neighbourhoods by placing active and sustainable travel at the heart of everything we do. Subsequently our investment in walking cycling and Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure parklets cargo bike sharing and other active travel initiatives has made it easier for people to travel more sustainably across the borough.

As a Project Support Officer youll play an important role in supporting this work by contributing to the planning design implementation and management of sustainable transport climate education and behaviour change schemes initiatives and events. Youll be based within the ambitious and creative Sustainable Transport Team and work closely with collagues in the Climate Public Health and Air Quality Teams.

This is a varied hands-on role where youll work closely with colleagues and partners to help deliver projects that support our ambition for 80% of journeys in the borough to be made by walking cycling or public transport by 2030.

Youll also have the opportunity to work on complementary climate education projects too through The Hive our dedicated environmental education centre.

We are looking for someone with a relevant degree or equivalent practical experience with excellent customer service and communication skills who is self-motivated organised has good analytical and problem-solving skills and ideally has a keen interest in sustainable transport and climate change.
