Job Description

The Mission Engagement department has an opportunity for a Spanish Translator position. The Spanish Translator is responsible for translating documents (correspondence legal documents promotional materials internal and external communication materials program materials resources teaching materials articles manuscripts books etc.) into Spanish or English as assigned by the Spanish Translation Bureau Director.

This position requires approximately 35 hours of work per week and is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (3 days onsite/ 2 day remote) after three months of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Translate all documents assigned by the Spanish Translation Bureau Director into Spanish or English.
  • Effectively and closely interact with Bureau staff employees and officers regarding project discussions.
  • Be available for special assignments as requested by the Bureau Director such as editing and proofreading materials and developing glossaries.
  • Maintain good organization of files and follow established translation process.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality with respect to all personal or private documents submitted for translation.
  • Use translation software programs proficiently.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from four-year college or university.
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Must have experience in legal translation and be licensed to authenticate translations.
  • Registered in the American Translator Association and or Court System.
  • Must speak English and Spanish fluently and have a grasp in both languages.
  • Must have strong organizational and concentration skills.
  • Must have experience in translating for various Latin cultures and be up to date with language developments.
  • Must have strong computer skills. (Translation memory programs) Microsoft office Suite Adobe.
  • Must have strong communication skills.
  • Must be familiar with Christian terminology.
  • Some familiarity with The Salvation Army terminology is preferred.
