About The Opportunity

Come work with us as a Diesel Mechanic and play a vital role in maintaining Councils modern and diverse fleet of vehicles plant and equipment.

You will:

  • Carry out servicing repairs and diagnostics on a wide range of fleet vehicles plant and machinery (diesel and petrol).
  • Participate in the on-call roster and undertake overtime when required.
  • Use Councils fleet maintenance system to accurately record work and service data.
  • Ensure a high level of training and supervision of all apprentices within this role contributing to the development of future tradespeople.
  • Uphold high standards of workmanship safety and efficiency in both workshop and field environments.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Trade qualification in mechanical engineering with experience in diesel and petrol engines.
  • Demonstrated Post-trade experience in a mixed fleet environment.
  • Strong mechanical diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with sound knowledge of relevant tools and equipment.
  • Experience with workshop/fleet maintenance systems and record-keeping.
  • Class C Drivers Licence (HR Licence and forklift ticket highly desirable).
  • Dual trade in diesel mechanic/auto electrical highly regarded.
