Job Description

Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to join our Molecular Oncology Lab. The Lead CLS will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the lab ensuring that all protocols are rigorously followed and providing guidance and support to junior staff members. This position is crucial for maintaining the high standards of our clinical trials and ensuring accurate and reliable results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Protocol Adherence: Ensure that all laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed meticulously.
  • Bench Work: Actively participate in bench work including the preparation processing and analysis of clinical trial samples.
  • Quality Control: Coordinate quality control procedures to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Training and Mentorship: Provide training mentorship and support to junior staff members answering their questions and assisting with complex procedures.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve technical issues that arise during laboratory procedures.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all laboratory activities including sample processing test results and quality control measures.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements including CLIA CAP and other relevant standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Laboratory Director and other team members to ensure the smooth operation of the lab and the successful completion of clinical trials.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to improve laboratory efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree required in Clinical Laboratory Science Molecular Biology or a related field.
  • Certification: Valid CLS license required
  • 5 plus years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting
  • 2 plus years in a molecular oncology lab preferred
  • Experience in a clinical trial setting preferred
  • Advanced certification in molecular diagnostics or oncology preferred

Skills:

1. Strong technical skills in molecular biology techniques including PCR qPCR NGS and other relevant methodologies.

2. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.

3. Strong leadership and mentorship skills.

4. Attention to detail and a dedication to maintaining high standards of quality.

5. Strong ability to collaborate effectively with team members and other departments.

Working Conditions:

  • The position requires working in a laboratory environment with exposure to biological samples and hazardous materials.
  • Must have availability to work occasional weekends and holidays to meet the needs of clinical trials.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $96000.00$135000.00.
