A minimum of a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university AND successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists Assistants program. ASCP certification (PA) or eligible -required to obtain within first twelve months of employment. Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain certification if applicable.
Education: * Baccalaureate degree or equivalent (CLIA 88 regulations).
Experience: * Previous experience in a health care setting. * Previous experience in pathology laboratory.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Requires a baccalaureate or equivalent. * Basic knowledge of human anatomy grossing and autopsy techniques general laboratory skills. * Understanding of safety and infection control requirements of position. * Competent in laboratory and hospital information systems associate with anatomic pathology. * Demonstrated ability to obtain and prepare tissue for evaluation provide assistance to pathologists in a timely and quality manner. * Must be highly organized efficient and multifunctional. * Must have good communications skills. * Ability to work independently as well as in a team. * Digital photography competence.
