FER-PAL is a North American leader in watermain rehabilitation with more than 30 years of expertise in delivering innovative sustainable solutions. As we continue to grow were looking for a Certified Payroll Specialist to join our Illinois team.
This role is ideal for a payroll professional who thrives on accuracy compliance and collaboration. Youll play a key part in ensuring timely compliant payroll processes while supporting HR and administrative functions that keep our people at the center of everything we do.
What Youll Do
Payroll & Compliance
Process accurate weekly payroll for U.S. employees.
Track time and calculate wages for Prevailing Wage employees.
Prepare and submit Certified Payroll Reports (LCPTracker eComply).
Ensure compliance with payroll laws and maintain organized records.
Support audits manage 401K/vacation pay tracking and collaborate closely with HR & Finance.
HR & Administrative Support
Ensure wages and benefits align with Prevailing Wage and contract requirements.
Support onboarding and offboarding processes.
Help track diversity initiatives and maintain Apprenticeship Program compliance.
Job requirements
What Were Looking For
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance HR or related field.
3 years of payroll processing experience (construction or public sector preferred).
Strong knowledge of Certified Payroll and Prevailing Wage regulations.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation required.
Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills required.
Skills That Set You Apart
Proficiency in payroll systems (ADP Paycom Workday etc.).
Strong attention to detail problem-solving and organizational skills.
Excellent communication and ability to handle confidential information with integrity.
