Academy of Art University is seeking a full-time Lab Technician within our School of Fine Art Printmaking for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 Semesters. This is a fixed-term on-site position ideal for candidates that enjoy working with students faculty and staff and have hands-on knowledge of Printmaking.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the upkeep and cleaning of Printmaking Studios.
  • Check studio equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Monitor and implement the proper labeling storage and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Handle and fill solvents in the etching silkscreen and lithography studios mixing Nitric acid for etching preparing photo emulsion for silkscreen.
  • Work with the Shop Manager Academic Director and faculty to track inventory of lab supplies.
  • Assist the Shop Manager in implementing safe studio practices and policies.
  • Work with the Facilities Department to maintain upkeep of studios.
  • Monitor equipment and facilities within the department. Interface with Operations Mac/IT and outside vendors in regards to repair and replacement of equipment.
  • Assist with semester-based projects including but not limited to the Printmaking Department Print Exchange and the Spring Show.
  • Attend all safety and hazardous material training.
  • Oversee receipt and stocking supply shipments.
  • Oversee work-study duties within the studios.

Compensation: $24.00/hour
