Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is seeking applications for the full-time position of Work-Based Learning Navigator at the TCAT Knoxville Anderson County Higher Education Center. This is a grant-funded role focused on enhancing work-based learning opportunities for K-12 students. The Work-Based Learning Navigator will collaborate with local employers educational institutions and community organizations to provide enriching experiences such as job shadowing apprenticeships career camps and dual enrollment programs.

Job Duties

  • Student Engagement and Support: The Work-Based Learning Navigator will create and maintain a high-energy welcoming atmosphere for both students and staff. Providing exceptional customer service to all prospective and enrolled students at TCAT Knoxville locations is essential. The Navigator will actively support and participate in campus recruitment and retention efforts ensuring that every student feels valued and engaged throughout their educational journey. - (Essential)
  • Program Development and Coordination: This position involves designing comprehensive work-based learning programs that span from career awareness to preparation for K-12 students. The Navigator will collaborate with employers and educational partners to create opportunities for career exploration including career assessments job shadowing pre-apprenticeships and dual enrollment initiatives. Additionally the Navigator will establish partnerships to develop engaging career exploration activities such as guest speakers field trips job site tours Remake Learning Days and career camps. - (Essential)
  • Transition and Evaluation: The Navigator will coordinate programs that support students transitions from secondary to postsecondary destinations measuring participation and evaluating the effectiveness of partnerships. Assessing student acquisition of career readiness skills and gathering feedback from employers and partners will be crucial to refining these programs. The Navigator will also evaluate program outcomes data to strengthen the career development curriculum and experiences offered to students. - (Essential)
  • Reporting and Compliance: Compiling reports and presentations on program highlights and successes is a key responsibility of this role. The Navigator will demonstrate a thorough understanding of the TCAT Knoxville GIVE Grant 3.0 goals and objectives ensuring that all activities align with these benchmarks. This commitment will help foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the work-based learning framework. - (Essential)
  • Career Path Guidance: Finally the Work-Based Learning Navigator will assist applicants in defining their career paths and understanding admissions requirements providing critical guidance to help students navigate their educational and career journeys effectively. - (Essential)
  • Professional Development: Acquire maintain and apply knowledge of current methodologies; attend scheduled college and department professional development and in-service activities; support related professional organizations. - (Essential)
  • Service to the College and Community: Assist in the recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned; participate in accreditation assessment and performance funding processes; support and participate in the Colleges decision-making processes; attend convocation and commencement exercises and participate in mandatory college programs; develop and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with colleagues; work to meet and exceed COE standards. Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and follow TBR policies. The Counselor/Recruiter will ensure compliance with admission registration and financial aid regulations and policies to uphold institutional integrity and support student success. - (Essential)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or administration on and off campus. Demonstrate a willingness to work extra hours as needed to cover College events. Travel between campuses will be required along with some additional travel for events and training. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree required in a related field such as Business Education Marketing or Counseling from an accredited institution.
Minimum of three years work experience in customer service education recruitment marketing or related

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in higher education

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated experience coordinating career education programs or partnerships
Knowledge of K-12 career development and state standards
Demonstrated experience with grant reporting and project management
Attention to detail
Strong customer service skills; must possess effective oral and written communication skills to convey college information accurately and to present information to large groups and individuals effectively
Must have the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs audio/visual equipment and software; and working knowledge of maintaining student records and/or sensitive information
Must have the ability to multitask with good organization and planning skills
Passionate belief in the power of education along with the desire to help students achieve their academic professional and personal goals
Ability to relate to a diverse faculty staff and student population
Ability to represent the College and division professionally with internal and external constituents to further the purpose values and mission of the College
Strong relationship-building and communication skills are essential

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
This position often involves a combination of the following potential physical demands:

  • Sedentary desk work - Sitting for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks reading writing etc.
  • Light physical activity - Walking around campus standing for meetings or interactions light lifting/carrying of files or supplies.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying - Moving boxes equipment or other items that may weigh up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to navigate campus environments - Walking up/downstairs traversing uneven surfaces etc.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines within the range of $45906 - $59678.
