JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Title: Post-Secondary Success Coach
- Reports to: Senior Director of Post-Secondary Programs
- Department: Program Operations Program Operations Division Central Office
- Location: Remote within 2 hours of majority of assigned portfolio
- Classification & Status: Exempt Full-Time
- Work Schedule: 40-hour work week approximately 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM flexible hours as necessary
JOB SUMMARY Reporting to and directed by the Senior Director of Post-Secondary Programs the Post-Secondary Success Coach develops and delivers supportive programming for current and future SparkWheel program participants. This position facilitates a continuation of SparkWheel services to participants entering the work force or those who are pursuing post-secondary education. The Post-Secondary Success Coach is responsible to help implement the vision and goals of SparkWheel Inc. as articulated by the President & CEO.
WHAT YOU WILL DO Post Secondary Engagement Program Management - Design develop and deliver supportive programming for current and future SparkWheel participants that address the post-secondary needs of graduating high school students including the areas of college and career readiness.
- Building and cultivating relationships with SparkWheel Student Support Coordinators and young adult participants for the delivery of services and supports.
- Obtain participant agreement/consent to mentor participants aged 18-24.
- Lead the goal setting process for young adult participants based on the needs identified aligned with becoming self-sufficient.
- Coordinate the delivery of Integrated Student Supports to young adult participants through brokered services referrals mentoring essential needs and resources.
- Maintain contact and share opportunities for all participants through the post-secondary network in order to engage with SparkWheel including but not limited to service-learning events speaking engagements and events with the Agency.
- Provide resources and support to high school Student Support Coordinators in all areas related to participant engagement college and career readiness.
- Travel at least 2 times a year to agency high schools within the service area to meet potential participants work to complete the pre-graduation plan and deliver graduation packets.
- Perform regular check-ins with program participants through various forms of communication to engage participation in the program.
- Specifically engage foster youth/students and those at-risk for low-engagement or opportunity post-high school.
- Collect and enter participant support and goal progress data in the SparkWheel data management system (Apricot360) weekly. Data will be reviewed with supervisor to ensure all requirements are met and appropriate supports being provided to maximize effectiveness and impact.
- Manage Scholarship program(s) and work with Student Support Coordinators to recruit and support students throughout the application and acceptance process.
- Maintain and update the website including college and career resources life skills information infographics participant profiles and more.
Other Position Functions
- This position is funded by the Kansas Department for Children and Families and must meet the performance measures and outcomes mandated in that grant.
- Complete training and professional coursework assigned by supervisor.
- Collaborate with campus based SparkWheel Post-Secondary programs.
- Manage budget and wisely monitor and utilize various resources.
- Refrains from assuming any duty unrelated to and/or interferes with the positions responsibilities.
- Develops promotes and practices teamwork in all activities.
- Advocates promotes and practices cultural sensitivity and responsiveness in all day-to-day interactions.
- Other duties as assigned by the President & CEO.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Qualifications: - At least one to three years experience in working with high school aged students or young adults.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with SparkWheel staff students participants community partners and the public.
- Ability to set and maintain healthy professional boundaries.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Ability to think process information and act quickly.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities yet is an effective team member.
- Bachelors degree in social work education public administration or related field. Equivalent relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
