Job Description
Job Summary:
The Production Machine Operator will safely control various machines and equipment involved in preparing steel wire for our manufacturing per our customers specifications.Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Operates production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications. Assigned machines may include Draw Pickle Line Shot Blast Annealing Furnace and similar equipment.
- Processes the required quantity of coils within established specifications and tolerances per customer work order.
- Measures & visually inspects finished parts with precision tools ensuring compliance with function quality and cosmetic specifications.
- Maintains logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.
- Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper setup and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance.
- Monitors & reacts to safety alarms.
- Operate a HiLo (forklift truck with a boom) in house certification provided.
- Operate an overhead crane in house certification provided.
- Maintains a clean safe and orderly work area.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to follow written directions.
- Work well in a team.
- Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable OSHA and environmental regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- No related experience required.
- Completion of on-the-job training may be substituted for educational requirements.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods working on feet using numeric and hand tools.
- Performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending stooping and twisting.
- Operate Steel Coil Compactor Banding Wheel Banding Crimper and similar equipment.
- Must have finger dexterity to use calibers.
- Must be able to Pull wire with 50 pounds of pressure
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
- Visual acuity to read instructions operate machines and inspect parts produced.
- Must be able to climb a ladder.
- Must have a valid driver s license.
