Job Description
Employer: Confidential Aerospace Metals Processor (Greater St. Louis West area)
Classification: Non-Exempt (Hourly)
Process titanium sheet through precision grinders to meet customer specifications; handle and move sheets safely; verify thickness and surface condition; perform basic maintenance and cleaning; support a safe organized work area.
B) Essential Duties & Responsibilities-
Material Handling & Movement Move skids of titanium sheet by forklift; load/unload sheets into/out of grinders with conveyors; flip/turn sheets using approved methods/lifting aids.

Grinding & Inspection Visually self-inspect sheet surfaces; remove surface defects with grinding tools; measure thickness with micrometers and vidigauge; record results to travelers/records.

Machine Setup & Operation Set up machines; observe operation for malfunctions; install large belts on grinders; follow operating and safety procedures.

Care & Maintenance Perform minor grinder maintenance; conduct periodic cleaning of grinder and work area; escalate issues to maintenance as needed.

Training & Teamwork Assist in training precision sheet helpers and other grinder operators; perform other duties as assigned by supervision.
Forklift; micrometer; vidigauge; grinder machine; tape measure; air nailer; cordless drill; profilometer; angle grinder; flipper table; vacuum lifter; computer; copy machine.
D) Qualifications / Skills-
Experience: Entry level acceptable; no prior experience required-training provided.

Math & Measurement: Basic math/equations; competent with measuring instruments (micrometers gauges).

Reading & Documentation: Read/interpret production orders and safety/operating/maintenance manuals; basic computer skills for entries.

Soft Skills: Problem-solving communication and teamwork; reliable full-time attendance with overtime as needed.

Physical: Regular standing/walking/handling; frequent reaching and lifting to 50 lbs; occasional sitting stooping/kneeling/crouching. Requires close/distance vision depth perception and focus adjustment.

Environment: Industrial metals environment with moving machinery and noise; adhere to posted safety procedures; PPE required (see below).
