Job Description

Full-time/Part-time Certificated Dental Surgery Assistant I/II/Dental Clinic Assistant(at the rank of Facilities Assistant) (several posts) in the Institute for Advanced Dentistry Multi-Specialty Clinic (IAD-MSC)of the Faculty of Dentistry(Ref.: 532576) (to commence as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis or one-year temporary basis with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

As part of HKUs Faculty of Dentistry ranked among the top three by the QS World University Rankings by Subject for nine out of the past eleven years (2015-2025) IAD-MSC is a centre of excellence for the management of complex and severe oral conditions. The institute provides postgraduate dental education fosters clinical innovation and offers continuing dental and professional education for practicing dentists and specialists.

IAD-MSC is situated in Hong Kong island at a 19000 ft state-of-the-art facility. Equipped with 45 dental chairs and paired with the latest technologies students from seven different dental disciplines can receive education and training in advanced dentistry and interact with real patients.

For appointment as Certificated Dental Surgery Assistant I/IIapplicants should have a Certificate of Proficiency in Dental Surgery Assisting issued by a recognised institute or equivalent AND 5 passes in HKCEE or min. Level 2 or equivalent in 5 subjects in HKDSEE with at least 5 years chairside assisting work experience in a dental clinic. Those with less experience may be appointed as Certificated Dental Surgery Assistant II. The appointees will assist the operators in the treatment of patients and teaching-related matters; facilitate patient care administration supplies general cleanliness associated with clinics and front desk patient care assisting functions; and perform other duties as assigned.

For appointment as Dental Clinic Assistant (at the rank of Facilities Assistant) applicants should have 5 passes in HKCEE OR min. Level 2 or equivalent in 5 subjects in HKDSEE with at least 1 years work experience in a dental clinic including chairside assisting. The appointees will assist the operators in the treatment of patients and teaching-related matters; facilitate patient care administration supplies and general cleanliness associated with clinics; and perform other duties as assigned.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered in addition to annual leave and medical benefits if applicable. The appointments on fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
