On July 26 1990 President George H.W. Bush signed the landmark Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) into law. The ADA is a civil rights law protecting the human and civil rights of people with disabilities across a broad range of settings. Title II of the ADA applies to state and local governments and provides that facilities services and programs be delivered in a non-discriminatory manner.
Oversee the Olmstead contractor and ensure their work is complementary and on track for deadlines.
Research Olmstead compliance efforts in other states and prepare a comparison report.
Research behavioral health services both publicly and privately funded for individuals with co-occurring disabilities in other states and prepare a comparison report.
Monitor and evaluate disability-related issues i.e. health care employment and transportation to determine impact on people with disabilities.
Evaluate state and federal budget proposals and proposed legislation to determine the impact on people with disabilities.
Interact with external stakeholders as appropriate to inform and support policy and the Governors strategic agenda.
Engage with State agencies community organizations the Administration advocates individuals with disabilities and family members to understand needs and resources.
Provide constituent services support when concerns are brought to the Administration regarding disability.

Class Code & Classification Description:
Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position to include:
6 years of experience/education/volunteer experience
Project management-related duties for business
Knowledge of the U.S. Supreme Courts 1999Olmsteaddecision and/or community living concepts
Experience with community and stakeholder networking and building
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupationrelated to the work assigned equal to six (6) years
Knowledge of the ADA and Medicaid.
Experience with report writing and analysis.
Demonstrated experience working with/in the disability community including lived experience.
Ability to read analyze and implement policies rules legal cases and statutes.
Knowledge of the Colorado state budget and budget process.
Performing duties similar to those assigned to the position as a classified State of Colorado employee.
Conditions of Employment:
Must be a Colorado resident at time of application.
You must pass a thorough background check prior to employment to include the E-Verify process.
This position will be expected to travel statewide approximately 15% of the time. The individual will need to work within State and CDLE policies to arrange such travel.
Appeal Rights:
