Job Description

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) trains doctors who put patients at the centre of their exemplary care. The School which offers both undergraduate and graduate programmes is named after local philanthropist Tan Sri Dato Lee Kong Chian. Established in 2010 by Nanyang Technological University Singapore in partnership with Imperial College London LKCMedicine aims to be a model for innovative medical education and a centre for transformative research. The Schools primary clinical partner is the National Healthcare Group a leader in public healthcare recognised for the quality of its medical expertise facilities and teaching. The School is transitioning to an NTU medical school ahead of the 2028 successful conclusion of the NTU-Imperial partnership to set up a Joint Medical August 2024 we welcomed our first intake of the NTU MBBS programme that has been recently enhanced to include themes like precision medicine and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare with an expanded scope in the medical humanities. Graduates from the five-year undergraduate medical degree programme will have a strong understanding of the scientific basis of medicine with an emphasis on technology data science and the humanities.

LKCMedicine is searching for a Research Associate/Fellow in the field of Learning Analytics (LA) / Machine Learning (ML) under Professor Andy Khong. Our multi-disciplinary team has developed the CADENCE D-PHA (Digital Personal Health Assistant) a multi-component mobile health application designed to improve medication adherence. The app aims to enhance patient engagement and sustain behaviour change and integrates human health coach support with mobile health technology. It offers personalized reminders educational resources progress tracking and real-time human health coaching. CADENCE D-PHA also aims to incorporate AI-driven assistance for cardiovascular disease patients through digital health coaching by leveraging large audio models and retrieval-augmented generation for evidence-based recommendations to enhance factual accuracy and minimise hallucinations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research activities:

  • Data collection data management and statistical analyses of medical data.

  • Perform predictive analytics of learning and usage data.

2. Research publications:

  • Manuscript drafting and editing.

3. Liaising with external collaborators particularly on technical matters.

Key Competencies and Requirements:

  • Doctoral/Masters degree in computer science/EEE specializing in Learning Analytics (LA)/Machine Learning (ML)

  • Skills in Learning Analytics (LA) / Machine Learning (ML) field

  • Experience in software development life cycle and programming languages

  • Experience in writing and publishing research papers in top-tier ML conferences (e.g. NeurIPS ICLR)

  • Skills in managing technical aspects of the project

  • Highly motivated meticulous and well-organised

  • Good leadership skills and a team player

  • Able to work independently and collaborate in a highly diverse multi-cultural and interdisciplinary team

  • Adaptable and willing to enter into deep learning in new areas

  • Fuent in written and spoken English with good communication skills
