At the AI research team at Medtronics AI Center Of Excellence were pioneering the next generation of visual intelligence solutions that power medical device applications across visual intelligence robotics augmented reality digital twins and beyond. Were seeking a Mid to Senior Machine Learning Engineer with deep expertise in computer this role you will design develop and deploy stateoftheart vision algorithms on medical data such as endoscopy X-rays CT MRI data. Youll work closely with a talented team of AI researchers to turn novel ideas into products across the company together with business unit teams.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Algorithm Development: Research implement and optimize algorithms for object detection image segmentation image classification multi-view stereo structure-from-motion (SfM) depth estimation surface reconstruction and volumetric modeling.
- Model Training & Evaluation: Design experiments select architectures (e.g. CNNs transformers NeRFs 3D/4D Gaussian splatting) and manage data pipelines for large-scale image and pointcloud datasets.
- Code Quality & Testing: Write clean modular and welltested code in Python.
- CrossFunctional Collaboration: Partner with domain experts to define requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Research & Innovation: Stay current with academic and industry advances; prototype novel techniques publish findings and contribute to patent filings as appropriate.
- Mentorship: Guide junior engineers and interns conduct code reviews and share best practices in algorithm design and software engineering.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelors and Masters degree in Computer Science Electrical Engineering Biomedical Engineering or related field (Ph.D. a plus).
- 4 years of handson experience in computer vision research and product development.
- Proficiency in Python experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
- Deep understanding of multi-view geometry photogrammetry SLAM or related topics.
- Experience with pointcloud processing libraries (e.g. PCL Open3D) and mesh/volume representations. Strong grasp of neural rendering techniques (e.g. Neural Radiance Fields) is highly desirable.
- Soft skills: Excellent problemsolving skills and ability to work in a fastpaced environment. Effective communication skills both verbal and written. Accurate Analytical Pro-active Hands-on pragmatic resilient. Dare to enter uncharted territory feeling comfortable with uncertainty. Passionate about continuously learning and staying up to date with SOTA. View problems as an opportunity to improve. Great team member who wants to help others.
Desirable qualifications
Published papers or opensource contributions in top-tier CV/ML conferences (e.g. NeuroIPS CVPR ICCV SIGGRAPH). Experience with realtime systems. Knowledge of advanced sensors and sensor fusion techniques. Experience with 3D reconstruction. Proficiency in C. Familiarity with GPU programming (CUDA) and inference optimization (TensorRT ONNX Runtime). Solid software engineering skills: version control (Git) CI/CD containerization (Docker) and cloud deployment (AWS/GCP/Azure).
