The Department of Mathematics at University of San Diego seeks applicants for one tenure-track Assistant Professor in computational mathematics to begin Fall 2026.
We are seeking candidates with expertise in any area of mathematics who study or apply computational techniques such as artificial intelligence data science machine learning statistics formal methods numerical methods computational modeling computational complexity or algorithm analysis. We are especially interested in candidates experienced in teaching with computational tools who can work alongside current faculty to incorporate such ideas into the undergraduate math curriculum.
The ideal candidate will be able to teach existing lower-division courses including algebra calculus and statistics. Their specific expertise will support the departments commitment to incorporating computational elements into these courses preparing all students for an increasingly data-driven world. We are especially interested in candidates who are invested in or have experience with inclusive pedagogy that supports student success in and enjoyment of mathematics. A typical teaching load is 3 undergraduate courses per semester.

The salary range provided in this posting reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Actual compensation offered or earned is dependent on experience education and other factors including departmental budget.
